That’s fascinating!

In preparation for the altMBA I have been reading the books that were sent me.

Most recently: The Art of Possibility by Rosamund Stone Zander and Benjamin Zander.

In it is a quote that you can use when things go wrong.

Rather than becoming angry or disappointed or anything else in that category, it’s worth saying “That’s fascinating!”

To me, using these words puts focus on the data and/or situation at hand instead of the feelings that come with it. It makes me stop for a moment and think about what’s in front of me, without resulting in quick responses.

Can I apply this to any situation going forward? Well, let’s find out. Must be a fascinating journey.
