Stress resistant
It’s one of those special skills that almost every job opening contains: stress resistant.
It is so easy for companies to put the blame with the applicant/employee. But it’s never the company taking the blame.
As a company you’re basically saying: “Our environment is stressful and there’s nothing we can do about it.”
But there is something you can do about it.
Hire more people, is probably the easiest.
A restaurant or café: high pressure stress inducing environments. And obviously the job opening will mention this. But at the same time, as a restaurant or café owner we also want you to be customer focused and friendly all the time. This doesn’t add up. So we should be open about this: you either let your employees know that they’ll experience stress because you don’t want to prevent this from happening, or you put extra effort in stress-preventing measures. It is not for the employee to be stress resistant. It’s up to you to provide a stress-free environment to work in so that your employees can perform to the best of their abilities and beyond.
